Feedback & Apprenticeship

Receiving and providing feedback is the most important element in the developmental philosophy of BCG. Our staff receives informal feedback during projects and a formal evaluation after every completed case. Feedback collected is aggregated and analysed to identify areas of strength and skills that need development. These, in conjunction with the specific developmental needs the individual would like to focus on, influence future case work assignments, amount of responsibility, and exposure to developmental opportunities. The individual career development representative tracks and helps guide every consultant’s career.

The most important learning happens ‘on-the-job’ through time spent with senior colleagues on the case team. BCG prides itself on its apprenticeship model—one of the criteria that project leaders and other senior staff are evaluated upon is their apprenticeship skills.

BCG encourages its staff to develop relationships with senior colleagues outside of their case team. The approachability of our staff ensures that everyone has a broad experience pool to learn from and to receive mentorship from.
