Your role at BCG

A career at BCG requires a broad range of skills. The firm's success depends on many highly motivated and skilled people from different backgrounds filling a variety of roles. Each role poses different challenges. From a new associate’s/senior associate’s first assignment to a seasoned partner’s major selling task, a job at BCG is never dull.

As a BCG consultant, you need rigorous analytical skills and integrity, and the flexibility to deal with the unexpected. You need to be excited about delivering substantial and lasting change to our clients’ businesses. You should also enjoy brainstorming potential issues and answers, and be a relaxed and confident communicator when dealing with clients.

BCG consultants also need to be comfortable with ambiguity—to see it as an opportunity to generate insight, rather than an obstacle. If you cannot obtain the exact data to prove your hypothesis, can you restructure your analysis so that you still arrive at the answer?

We offer various choices of career paths while accepting new hires at all levels. New hires usually join as associates, senior associates, consultants or project leaders.

Associates work on a module, gathering relevant data and providing insightful analyses. Senior associates and consultants work independently on larger, more complex modules delivering the required answers to our clients' problems. Associate, senior associates and consultants work closely with client members to define and solve their issues.

Project leaders represent a significant change in role and responsibility as they manage the entire team working on a client case. A project leader is responsible for the work allocation/monitoring and output of his/her team as well as managing the expectations and relationships with key client counterparts on the case.

Joining BCG means becoming a member of a lifelong community. We are proud of our alumni and of what they go on to achieve after leaving BCG. They are one of our greatest strengths.
