BCG History

BCG was founded in 1963 by Bruce Henderson. His focus on conceptual, strategic thinking has yielded many breakthrough ideas that have become classics of strategy. The experience curve, time-based competition, sustainable growth, and total shareholder value are BCG concepts that many organizations have leveraged to enhance positioning.

Bruce earned an undergraduate degree in engineering from Vanderbilt University before attending Harvard Business School. He left HBS ninety days before graduation to work for Westinghouse Corporation, where he became one of the youngest vice presidents in the company's history.

He accepted the challenge from the CEO of the Boston Safe Deposit and Trust Company to start a consulting arm for the bank... and this is how the story of BCG started.

Over the last forty years, BCG has been the fastest growing strategy consulting firm in the world. We currently employ over 3,900 consultants in 66 offices across the world.
