Chennai

Located on the Coromandel Coast off the Bay of Bengal, Chennai (formerly known as Madras) is one of South India's primary commercial, cultural, and educational centers. Approximately 4.6 million people live in Chennai, making it the sixth-most-populous city in India. According to the Confederation of Indian Industry, Chennai's economy is expected to grow to a $100 billion—2.5 times its present size—by the year 2025.

The city's economy has a broad industrial base in the automobile, computer, technology, hardware manufacturing, financial services, and health care industries. Chennai is India's second largest exporter of information technology and business-process-outsourcing services, and about 30 percent of India's automobile manufacturing industry is based in and around the city. The Tamil film industry, the second-largest film industry in India, also makes its home in Chennai.

Many software and software services companies have development centers in Chennai, and a number of software companies have made Chennai their largest base. Medical tourism is also an important part of Chennai's economy, with several prominent health care providers located in the city.

Our team in Chennai would be delighted to help you understand the business opportunities and challenges that this vibrant and fast-growing city presents.
